As a family with one income and two small kids, saving money is no easy task. I love using cash back apps as much as I can, because with the amount of apps out there, at least one (if not more!) will get you something back on every single purchase. If you know the ins and outs of these apps, you'll be raking in the cash back in no time. You can even use my referral codes to start off your accounts with a little something!
Don't forget about coupons, too! Not everybody gets a Sunday paper these days, so how do you get coupons in your hands? Take a look at your phone! You can find coupons on various couponing apps, websites, and store specific apps. Keep in mind you can still get those awesome real paper coupon inserts from Sunday Coupon Inserts! Note: If you're into it, you can call your local recycling center and ask them if you'd be able to come rifle through all the newspapers that they've got on hand and take home the coupons.
Onto the good stuff! Here's a list of my personal favorite apps for checking coupons and cash back deals. I also check the website for wherever I'm shopping to see if there's any deals going on there as well.
Flipp - This website and mobile app shows weekly ad circulars based on your area. You are able to make a shopping list using their intuitive clippings feature that will search all the listed stores for whatever you have clipped, how simple! There also is a section to add a loyalty card to unlock additional coupons for stores such as Walgreens, CVS, and Family Dollar.
Ibotta - Is my absolute favorite app for cash back! There are over 2,000+ retailers, quite a handful being big names, and tons of cash back offers! They even have a browser extension much like Honey, allowing you to get cash back offers even easier.
One downside while using the app is that you have to look through and save offers manually beforehand, making sure to add them to your list, and then submit your receipt afterwards. Something you can do to simplify the process is linking an account after submitting a receipt. What this does is eliminate the step of having to scan your receipt each time. What I did was link my Target account to the Ibotta app which notifies the app after I have made a qualifying purchase. You still need to make sure to save offers though, this step is crucial to actually getting cash back!
You can cash-out once you've reached $20 by linking your bank or PayPal account, or choosing from various types of gift cards. I usually like to go for Amazon. I noticed that $20 can actually accumulate rather quickly, and you can take your gift card in any amount above that. (My last one was $23.19).

Receipt Hog - Another receipts-to-cash app. This app doesn't have as high of yields as Ibotta. You submit your receipts (paper or online via linking accounts, or your personal email which I do not really recommend doing) for spins which are used in a little slot machine game called "Hog Slots". When winning a spin you get coins that can be either redeemed for a Visa Prepaid Card, Amazon Gift Card or having your earnings sent straight to a PayPal account.

Fetch Rewards - Is a cute little app following the whole scan-receipts-to-earn layout. It gives you a base amount of 25 coins for each receipt scanned however, you are able to get additional coins for purchasing select items or brands. For example, I received a bonus for purchasing pizza rolls and sun chips on one of my trips to Costco. There is also an option in the app to link your Amazon account to get points on each Amazon order you place. When you have saved up enough coins you are able to redeem them for various Gift Cads in $10, $20 or $50 increments, each with their own respective coins needed to redeem. You also have the option to make a charitable donation of your choosing using your acquired earnings!

(FYI Huggies Rewards+ users! They have partnered and moved their loyalty program to this app! I got a free one year magazine subscription on my first Huggies scan.)
Target Circle - Love, love loveee! Target Circle is a neat little rewards program giving you a fixed 1% in earnings on each purchase you make. On top of that you are able to browse many Target Circle offers and apply them before checking out to receive additional discounts on your purchase. These offers will change periodically so there is always something new to look for before your next Target run. Don't forget to stack that with your 5% discount using a Target RedCard! What's neat is that you don't have to apply for the credit card to get the additional 5% discount. They have a debit card option you can choose when applying for a RedCard which will also give you that 5%! You'll often find deals like "spend $100 on diapers/wipes for pickup or same day delivery and receive a $15 gift card" displayed on their weekly ads. My favorite deal! So how do you get that 1% in earnings, what are the steps? It's quite simple! Type in your phone number linked with your Target account in-store at checkout or use the app to display your wallet's barcode and scan, that's all! You can have your RedCard loaded onto your app and pay with it when you scan the barcode as well, and apply any gift cards you have on your account if you choose.
Here's an example of using the Honey browser extension showing a cash back offer.
Honey - Widely known and is available both as a browser extension or mobile app. Honey "scours the internet" for any coupon codes that are listed on other websites and automatically tests and applies any that are active. You can also activate cash back offers when shopping, earning Honey Gold which you can redeem for gift cards, or get cash sent straight to your PayPal account. On the mobile app, you can add your favorite stores and see all in one place how many coupons are currently available. Want to be notified when an item you're interested in drops in price? Add it to your Droplist and Honey will send you a notification as soon as it sees a drop! What's not to love?
Here's my referral link if you are interested in joining!
Want to save even more? Do your homework before shopping! Sometimes, you can find an item that's on sale, stack a coupon on that, and if you're lucky, also get cash back on it. There's also rare occasions that you'll end up getting back more money than you spent! Wait, what?!
I hope some of these programs can help you to save some money here and there! Every penny counts. Earning even as little as 0.5% cash back on something you're already buying is a good idea! Technology has sure come a long way from clipping coupons from the Sunday paper.
